What’s in an Oyster?

March 18, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

Well, the obvious answer to the question in this title is pearls. My mom loves pearls. Me, however, I’m not that huge a fan. What would I love to have in oysters? I’d really like it if Oysters spit out Sapphires! Not that I’m enormously greedy or anything, but wouldn’t it be cool if a blue gemstone came out of an oyster? Add to that sapphires are my birthstone, and blue is my favorite color. I would go digging for oysters if that happened.

I really wouldn’t mind having a bunch of oysters sitting on my drawer if they had a nice shiny sapphire in them. It’s probably not as practical as a pearl though. It might also be a bit freaky, but I think that it would definitely get people more interested in these little suckers.

Have you ever eaten an oyster before? I haven’t, but the folks over at Gulf oysters are trying to make sure that people are aware that there are dangers to eating undercooked oysters. Of course you wouldn’t want to do that if you knew you could find a sapphire in it! Check out their site for more information!

The internet and Wii

March 18, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

This sounds like it could be a movie sometime in the future, especially with the success of the Wii (My brother has one… I kinda want my own though, lol). Charter, a high speed internet company, is taking advantage of the success of this platform to help promote their own service. Right now, at their site, they are offering a chance to bid on High Speed internet for life as well as a Nintendo Wii.

I think this is a great opportunity. Internet can get really expensive, so this could be a great way for you to get your service at a better rate. I’d try to get in quick though, the bids are already pretty high! What’s great about having high speed internet these days is that the world basically revolves around the internet. As much as I hate to admit it, I’m sure that soon you’ll be able to stream your movies (legally) to your hi-def TVs and computers. I just hope that even if you can do this, you’ll still come to the movies… because I miss having to serve a ton of people. Bring your smiling faces back!

Anyway, head out quick and get your bids in!

Green Shoes

January 23, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

I just saw this opportunity, so I figured I’d take it and let you guys know about some Green Shoes! Po Zu is an environmentally-friendly shoe brand that is launching in the US. All of their products are naturally grown or tanned. They even have an edible shoe cream!! I’ve never even heard about that before.

If you’re looking for green shoes, give these guys a look. They seem to have a pretty interesting concept going on, and they’ve generated a lot of interest from large department stores such as Barneys. This is definitely one way to go green!

If you check it out, let me know what you think.

You can do Better

January 16, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

Well, at least your computer can. How can it do this, you might ask? Well, you can just go visit PC Ask Me. They offer a ton of services to make sure that your computer is always performing in tip-top shape, such as virus and spyware protection, and also diagnostics and upgrades to your computer. Have you ever had trouble installing a peripheral on your computer? If you have, you might want to consider calling these guys and gals so that you can get some help.

I’m sure that you’ve had issues with Tech Support before. Having dealt with a lot of customer service in my day, I know that these guys have to provide great service or they won’t be getting anyone coming back. That being said, I’m sure that they do, because they are very confident in their product, which is an important thing. If you’re not confident in your product, then most likely it isn’t very good. Going out to get it promoted like this means that you probably want to get the word out on your product, which means you must think you have something good.

So give them a look, and let me know what you think!

Coupon Jellies

January 4, 2008 by Joe · Leave a Comment

Now that is one interesting name for a website. You don’t usually associate coupons and jelly, unless you are buying jelly, and using a coupon. Hmmm.. ok so I’m not the most creative person, but that’s why I show you the movies and I don’t make them myself! Who knows though, maybe one day.

Anyway, onto our friends over at Coupon Jelly. As you might have inferred from the name of their website, this is a site that offers coupons that you can use towards online purchases. An example that they have is for Dell Coupons. That could save you a bunch when you’re buying your next Dell, so when you think Dell, think Jell! Ok… I tried. And failed again miserably.

If you head over to their website, you find a spiffy site where you can search for coupons to use online. The team over at Coupon Jelly guarantees that they won’t rest until they find the best possible deal for you. That’s a pretty big promise, let me tell ya. With more than 20 people scouring the web for you, you’re sure to find a great deal. They save you all the trouble of having to go look yourself. You can just go to one website, and search for the deal there instead of jumping from site to site. A pretty neat idea, in my opinion.

Shopping for Furniture

January 2, 2008 by Joe · 1 Comment

As some of you may or may not know, I’m going to be moving into a new house in about 3 weeks. (I’ll post pics once I take some more, the ones I have are too incomplete.) That being said, I’ve been doing a lot of bedroom furniture shopping lately. It’s been quite the experience… it’s so difficult to find a set that you like, within your budget, and then it has to fit in the room too! Needless to say, it’s been a long journey. I’ve finally found a set that I like (and my parents too!), but now the only problem is I have to wait 10-12 weeks for it to arrive! I hope that it doesn’t take that long, but who knows. I know that I’ll be sleeping on a sleeping bag or air mattress for a little while at least.

I have to admit though, it’s been a lot of fun.. I’ve seen some great and some terrible sets at the same time. It’s going to be awesome when I finally get it! I’m upgrading from Twin to Queen!!! :-)

Women’s Hair Loss Movement

December 27, 2007 by Joe · Leave a Comment

I realize that there are people with this condition, but I had no idea that there was a movement for this. While this is a paid post, I would write about this one still… maybe not on this blog though. Anyway, the Women’s hair loss Project chronicles one woman’s journey through life while dealing with this condition at a young age. While this is a condition that is normally associated with men, it can also happen to women, and is even more devastating in that it is definitely not as common.

This site about women’s hair loss is gaining a lot in popularity and has even been featured on about.com and a major Atlanta newspaper. Read on and support this woman… let her know that she does not have to suffer in silence, and there are many people out there who will support her.

Take Care of Your Teeth

December 27, 2007 by Joe · 1 Comment

Taking care of my teeth has always been something that is important to me. I’ve been through everything possible, from fillings to headgear and braces. Having all of this done, I’ve come to realize how important it is to have good dental insurance. I’m lucky to be able to get this through the company that I work for at a very good rate. However, people aren’t always so lucky. Insurance can be complicated, and expensive, especially if you don’t have the right kind of coverage. They can also make you fill out a ton of paperwork, which will make your coverage even harder to get!

When you are considering dental insurance, make sure that you go check out discount dental plans from DentalPlans.com. They’ve been in business since 1999, providing discount insurance and information for consumers looking to purchase dental insurance. They’ve partnered with many different companies and have providers in over 100,000 locations throughout the country. This is great if you’re looking for somewhere to go to get a quick fix.

Remember, dental insurance is important, but you don’t want to get ripped off. Make sure you check these guys out if you currently don’t have dental insurance. They could save you tons of money!

So are you guys really good with computers? I’m ok, but there are times when I do need to ask for help. How can you blog without one? Anyway, Toronto area consumers, have no fear, you’ve got great tech support available whenever you want!

What’s in a Host?

December 21, 2007 by Joe · Leave a Comment

Do you guys have your own hosted blogs, or do you use a service like wordpress.com or blogger.com? I used to use blogger.com, and I still use it for one of my sites, but I’ve found it much more rewarding to be able to have your own host and domain to customize everything yourself. While this might not be the best choice for people who are starting out, it’s something you should definitely consider if you are planning on expanding your blog or website. I’ve done it and I have nothing to regret at all! If you are interested in getting more information on choosing a host, be sure to check out www.webhostingchoice.com. They’ve got tools to help you decide what you need when you’re choosing a host!
